You want to get starting in writing a novel, you have fresh ideas but something stops you. Fear of failure or just not sure how to start, may be the worst writers block. A great way to start is to follow Nike’s advice and Just Do It. Once you enter there is a rhythmic movement forward.

Here are some tips to get started:

  • writinganovel_1Organize a couple of hours in advance.
  • Find a quiet place away from your iPod or stereo.
  • Keep a dictionary nearby, a book or online.
  • Clear your mind of everything that has to do or not do.
  • Wear comfortable clothes.
  • Have your computer open with a Word document open

Do not worry about the technical parts, just take the written word. There will be plenty of time to edit and change a little later. As you type, your voice will grow with your style. Do not be surprised when you read through your manuscript, your writing will improve. Like anything else, practice makes you better. Don’t worry about starting at the beginning, you can start in the middle or at the end if you feel more comfortable. Anything and anywhere, as long as you start.

Create a routine of writing. In the best case, you should write every day. Every successful author tell you the exact number of hours, or words per day. If you have other obligations, such as employment or a dependent family, perhaps you can do in two days. Make a schedule and stick to it. At the beginning of each writing session, read what you’ve done ahead of time and continue from there. During the session or end notes of your ideas if you do not forget. This can be done either in a notebook or a right in the Word document of your manuscript. After a while and see what works best for you and adapt.

Above all, do not give up. If you like the process and the desire to succeed, to continue writing. If you lead a busy life, like most, you have to give something to add writing to your day. Could be other hobbies, watch TV or even sleep. Ultimately, you will feel proud to have achieved your goal.

After reading many boring books in a row, I had the idea that I could do better. This was a minor issue that was not really sure I could do since I had never written before. But then I read, I began a thorough analysis of the plot, characters, writing styles and more.

I began writing the story and character ideas in a notebook. When I felt like there was a beginning of a story that did exactly what I mentioned earlier. I’m sitting at my computer, open a Word document and started writing. In college, I remember it difficult to get a one-page document. At ten pages, I was surprised, then I was twenty-five pages, seventy pages, and when I hit a hundred pages, nobody was more surprised than me. Every time I reread potions I was impressed that I wrote.

Do not be fooled. This was certainly not a finished product when the story was over. I spent many hours on the subject for many months. I had to learn the grammar, work on my sentence structure and modify it to make sure that the story flowed. The thrill of all that motivated me every night after my return after a hard day’s work. I scarified TV, telephone, and sleep. You can do this if you have the passion to make it happen.
